Sean O’Connor recognized the power of light and shadow as a student of architecture. Since establishing his firm in 1997, Mr. O’Connor has developed an award-winning body of work by defining spaces and their character, identity and beauty through the use of light.

Mr. O’Connor works in close collaboration with architects, interior designers and owners to implement integrated lighting systems that strengthen a project’s vision. Unique within the lighting design community, Mr. O’Connor is an avid collector of 20th century and contemporary art, furniture and decorative arts. He is also an active member of the art and design communities, having served on committees at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Sean also contributed to the curation and design of the “ICONS” exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. These passions and experiences inform every project, creating a like-minded vision and common vocabulary amongst design teams.

David’s career in architectural lighting design began in the professional theatre over 20 years ago. These important years  informed his relationship with light and the power of light and darkness in our everyday lives.  Today, his body of work in the architectural medium draws from those experiences in the theatrical, endeavoring to create strong connections between the architectural space and those experiencing it.

Practicing the art and business of lighting design with a collaborative and thoughtful approach, David is responsible for the design and execution of more than one hundred significant architectural projects both domestically and internationally. He has worked on a wide range of project types; hotels and restaurants, museums, retail projects, and corporate and institutional work. With an interest in complicated architectural challenges, he possesses the creativity needed to design with light in a world that values sustainability, while continually delivering results which exceed expectations.

Michael is an award-winning lighting designer whose project experience spans the globe including work in Europe, Asia and the Mideast. Michael brings a strong technical background to the firm with a degree in Architectural Engineering earned at The Pennsylvania State University and a minor in Architecture Studies earned in Rome.

He has worked on a diverse variety of projects ranging from residential, high-end retail, and museum/gallery to civic and supertall structures. Michael is a US Green Building Council LEED accredited professional, NCQLP Lighting Certified, and a member of the Illumination Engineering Society of North America.

The interaction of people with lighting and interior design is what first led Becky to a career in architectural lighting. With over 15 years of experience in the lighting industry, Becky’s emphasis has been on collaboration throughout the design and construction process in order to achieve the most universally beneficial outcome. Her experience at Sean O’Connor Lighting encompasses both architectural and decorative lighting design, celebrating the transformative qualities of light while enhancing architecture. Becky has strong technical ability, versatility, and creativity which she brings to the table on all of her projects.

An active member of the Los Angeles design community, she has served as President of the IESLA. Becky was recognized by Lighting Magazine as one of the 2019 40 Under 40 international lighting professionals.
